Project Overview

In the wake of being the lead actor in the most viewed non-English Netflix original, Kunle Remi’s team met with us, sharing their dream of continued global relevance for Kunle. Being one of Nigeria’s finest talent exports, a key part of achieving this vision was to create a one-stop digital shop where people and brands could know about him, his latest endeavours, and connect with him.

The Problem

Quite early into the project, we noticed that personal websites, especially for celebrities, tend not to get a ton of traffic compared to their social media accounts or third-party press platforms. At the same time, what we were about to create needed to show the diversity of Kunle Remi’s talents while being easy to navigate by his kindred (Kunle’s community) and brands.

The Crevtus Way

We began the process by tapping into Kunle’s community to understand what they’ll need from the platform we were creating. This stage also included conversations with members of the general public who will be having their first brand contact with Kunle and of course, brand decision-makers, a key section of people that will be visiting the site.

The findings from these research sessions balanced against the requests from Kunle’s team and informed our user experience design decisions throughout.

The Craft

Design Language

A global brand needed to have an equally high-quality website, so we went all clean and modern with the design, paring bold imagery and typography that matched his energetic and lively personality against a muted backdrop that allows people to focus on the star, Kunle.

Easy Navigation

It was essential that users could quickly find what they were looking for on the website. People needed to be able to easily obtain information about him, whether it was about brand partnerships, his projects and prior work, or his most recent news.

In order to properly group information in its respective sections, we designed a unique full-screen menu that left minimal space for error during navigation. We also included in-page links to facilitate easy navigation from any page on the website.

Always up-to-date

To solve one of the problems outlined earlier of people not returning to the websites of personal brands, we incorporated a News feature that allows the in-house team share news about Kunle. To add more bricks to this one-stop shop, we added a Press feature that pooled the latest media features of Kunle Remi, whether it be articles, videos or interviews across the internet. This ensured that visitors could always use the website as a reference point for authentic and latest information about Kunle.

Dynamic Filmography

We created a filmography section that allowed people to scan through Kunle’s past work chronologically with a filter that allowed them to sort between his movies and tv shows. Each entry was also linked to any desired landing page of the film where people could do a deep dive.

Everything the Press and Partners Needs

In addition to the website, we created a press kit doc that aligned with the visual direction of the website and conveyed key information needed by anyone that wanted to partner with Kunle.

We also created a partnerships page to give insights into the reach and power of Kunle Remi’s personal brand to future collaborators and how they can benefit from his impact.

Impact

On the first day of announcing the website, Kunle Remi had thousands visiting the website with a large percentage doing so to sign up for his newsletter containing exclusive information for his Kindred community. This has flourished into a brand of its own, an active Kindred community with a constantly growing life force. The website has also been a point of reference for brands that want to partner with him, the key pages being some of the most popular of the website.
